The
Wichita Chapter of The American Institute of Wine & Food
Presents
An
Aroma & Taste Challenge
April 8 • 7 p.m.
Airport Hilton Executive Center
With Jeff Miller, Glazer’s of Kansas
Cost: $20
The Midwest Winefest is just around the corner
(April 22-24) and it’s time to hone your palate for all the tasting you will
be doing. Here’s an opportunity to test your ability and determine flavors and
aromas associated with fine wines. Come and be a part of the Aroma &
Taste Challenge Seminar - Educational and informative, and we’ll drink some
wine too!
Participants will learn to
identify 8 aromas found in wines (the smells will have been accented by the
addition of aroma essence concentrates supplied by Fetzer Vineyards). Some
aromas originate in the grapes, others in the winemaking process, and some from
growing conditions.
Next the tastes of 9 specific fruit flavors found in wines will be evaluated by scientific
method using jellybeans. Participants will be placed in 4 groups and
conduct the evaluations as teams with a prize for the members of the
winning team.
After that we will sample 4 sauces custom prepared to compliment or contrast the
4 wines of the tasting, this will be along with a presentation on food &
wine pairing.
As with all AIWF events, you need not be a member to attend! Call 682-5502
for information or credit card reservations. Check/credit card reservations
must be made by noon, April 7. No cancellations, substitutions accepted.
