American Institute of Wine & Food Take a trip to Madrid for Tapas & Wine Wednesday, Sept. 24 7-9 p.m. The Shadow Bistro & Bar Rock and Central (where The Grape used to be!) When you think of Spain you think of the fast tapping of Flamenco dancers, exotic Moorish-style castles and golden beaches on the Med. Wait! You forgot the delicious food and outstanding wines. Take a trip to Madrid for some traditional “tasca hopping” as we celebrate the food and wines of Spain right here in Wichita. The wines for evening include: Segura Vidas Aria Brut Sparkling Wine, Vionta Rias Vaixaf Albarino, Marques d’Caceres Santinela Rioja White, Creu de lavit Penedes White, Mas d’aranyo Penedes Tempranillo, Marques d’Caceres Rioja Red Reserve, Torres Sangre de Toro, Pedro Domcq Amontillado (Medium dry). The Shadow’s executive chef has prepared a number of tapas (little tastes) to go with the wines. These include: Gambas al Ajillo (Garlic Shrimp), Pincho Moruno (Miniature kabobs), Champinones al Jerez (Mushrooms in Sherry Sauce), Tarta Cebollada del Convento (Carmalized Onion Tart), Caracoles a la Marilena, Albondigas (Pork Balls) and more. We will also be sampling some delightful cheeses and olives as well. See you there!
